ITC 2025 in Rio de Janeiro began with important meetings, bringing together representatives from the four international thyroid societies in the world.
In the world, there are four thyroid associations representing their respective regions: the American Thyroid Association (ATA, established in 1923), the European Thyroid Association (ETA, 1965), the Latin American Thyroid Society (LATS, 1974) and the Asia & Oceania Thyroid Association (AOTA, 1975).
The representatives discussed the development of the Congress, the logistics involved, and the steps for assembling the scientific program, including the opening ceremony.
The meeting is an important moment to evaluate the Congress and determine whether any adjustments are needed for the next ITC in 2030, in Europe. The official document with the decisions will be made available to the organizers.
Attending the meeting were: Chris McCabe, secretary ATA (United Kingdom); Won Bae Kim, presidente AOTA (South Korea); Byeong-Cheol Ahn, secretary AOTA (South Korea); Laura Fugazolla, president ETA (Italy); Kris Poppe, secretary ETA (Belgium); Inés Califano, secretary Lats (Argentina); Janete Cerutti, president Lats (Brazil); and Claudia Pellizas, secretary POC (Argentina), Ana Luiza Maia, president POC (Brazil).
