The Latin American Thyroid Society (LATS) held its recent executive meeting to discuss key strategic initiatives and upcoming activities.
Significant progress was reported regarding the LATS Congress 2027, to be held in Medellín, Colombia. A new organizing agency (CCM) has been selected, and preparations are underway, including venue confirmation at Plaza Mayor Convention Center and ongoing coordination with the Local Organizing Committee.
The Scientific Committee provided updates on the congress program, highlighting a well-structured agenda that will include plenary sessions, symposia, debates, and “meet-the-professor” sessions. Several international speakers have already confirmed their participation, and the program is being carefully designed to ensure diversity in gender, geography, career stage, and expertise.
LATS continues to strengthen its collaboration with regional scientific societies, with confirmed joint activities at upcoming events in Brazil and Argentina. New partnerships are also being explored to further enhance regional engagement.
Preparations are also underway for Thyroid Day 2026, which will focus on thyroid health and quality of life. Planned activities include educational videos, social media content, and potential live events aimed at both healthcare professionals and the general public.
